We headed up to Moon Lake again this year over the girls birthday. We went last year and we loved it so much that we made sure it was a priority to go back again this year. We invited Benton's sisters, Carol & Aimee and their families to join us. Surprisingly we've never been camping with anyone, so it was fun to go with others and spend time with family.
Unfortunatley the day we arrived I started getting sick. Body aches, sore throat and then a fever came that night at 103 degrees. I felt awful, so by the next afternoon I was being dragged out of the mountains to Roosevelt which is an hour away to go to Instacare. I ended up having Strep and an ear infection. So they gave me a shot and some medicine and back to camping we went. Within 24 hours I felt so much better. It was a rough start to our camping trip.
Aimee who takes all our family pics brought her camera, which made it easy for me to be lazy and not have to take many pics. So most of these below I stole from her, thanks Aim!
Benton went fishing with our family multiple times, which of course he loved.
The kids played on the beach. The minute they saw mud they were of course attracted to it, they couldn't stay out of it. They had an absolute blast!
We were all able to go on a hike together. The kids actually did pretty well. We carried a couple of them some of the way but overall they did really well.
And of course we threw a party for Addie and Allie. I thought for weeks about what to do for Allie. Since her birthday was two days after we arrived, I couldn't bring balloons like we usually do because the helium wouldn't last that long. So I bought flowers and we all threw one in the lake for her. We did it as the sunsetting and it was a beautiful tribute to her.
After some tears were shed, we headed back to our campsite to eat cupcake and open presents. Addie was thrilled it was her birthday. The only thing she asked me for was a picture book like "Damie" aka Cambree. She was more than thrilled to see that I made one for her. We also gave her a pedaless bike, it will help her learn to balance but it will take some time to learn.
Moon Lake was a hit again. We will be back again next year!

What incredible pictures. Absolutely breathtaking! I've been thinking about you lately and wondering how you are doing. What a beautiful tribute to Allie. I love the pic of Cambree dancing in the water with the pink flowers scattered across the water. You are such an amazing mom and your strength is such an inspiration to me. You have such beautiful children. Glad you had a nice time camping. Strep throat sucks...glad it all turned out okay.
