I love this time of year. It makes you stop and think about what you're truly grateful for. I know for me it's my family of 5. I couldn't ask for a better husband. He is always there for me and makes me so happy. I am one lucky girl to have found him. I'm also blessed to have three beautiful daughters. I will never be able to leave miss Allie out even though she's not here physically with us. I know she's close by watching over us. And Cambree and Addie bring me purpose to my life. They make my heart happy.
Family is what it's all about. It's easy to get distracted with material things, or small petty things but really none of that matters. The only thing that matters are the people who surround you. I have found that more true than anything I know. And I am so thankful that my eyes are open and clear to what's around me. Family.
Enough of my thoughts about Thanksgiving...This year I hosted it at my house. It was my first time ever cooking a whole turkey as well as having everyone over for a big holiday party at my own home. My mom just arrived home from visiting my sister, Karly on Tuesday afternoon. She had told me that since she was getting home so close to Thanksgiving that they wanted everyone to go together to Chuck-A-Rama (buffet style food). I was against going there from the moment it came out of her mouth. I talked to Benton and offered to host it at my house.
It's a lot of work cleaning your house, getting it ready and then cooking. I made rolls, pumpkin pie, the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and the gravy. The rest my sister and mom brought. It was a lot of work and I'm happy to report everything was a success. I must say I'm kinda relieved its over with. I think it's going to be a while till I ready to host another big holiday at my house. I'm glad I did it but I realize how much work it really is!
Benton carved his first Thanksgiving turkey.
As you can see the food was all delicious!
My family.
And then here are a few of my favorites. My brother sleeping or attempting to sleep on my couch as the kids play around him. And then Cambree and Spencer hugging. She loves her cousin Spencer, she says he's her best friend.
I hope your Thanksgiving was a happy one. I know ours was.
