We went to our first appointment when we were 7 weeks along. As you can see the baby is really small and you could only see one. The circle next to the baby is the sac.

Everyone was really happy and excited for us.
Because we were on vacation we missed our next appointment 4 weeks after our first appointment. So it turned into 6 weeks later because my doctor went on vacation the week we got back. So last night when we went to our appointment I was 13 weeks.
When she was looking at our ultra sound, she smiled. I was trying to figure out why she was smiling. I thought "Maybe she knows the gender of the baby?" and then she said the words that changed everything "Your having twins!" Um....WHAT? I asked her if she was serious because it was impossible since we don't have twins on either sides of our families. She replied "I don't joke about having twins." So now I needed the proof. But there was only one problem, I couldn't stop laughing, I was in shock. I told her she had to give me a minute since I couldn't stop laughing.
Laughing is probably a weird response, but it's better than crying. I'm really excited. Benton and I both cannot even believe it. This is the craziest thing that has ever happened to us. Our due date is September 25th but my doctor said she wouldn't let me go past 38 weeks which puts us around September 10th.
I feel like we have so much more planning to do now. I was ready for one baby, two is really unexpected. We both can't wait and are ready for the challenge. I'm in love with my twins already!
I will keep you all updated on our progress. We can't wait to be a family of 5 this year!

I'm so excited Melissa! I read your blog and have to admit, I'm always so jealous of your 'mommy style' I can't think of anyone more deserving and able with love for two beautiful babies than you!
AHHHHH!!! Holy smokes girl, this just makes my day. I can't think of anything cuter. You just seem like such an incredible mom and you will be an amazing mom to THREE little ones. Lucky Cambree, 2 babies at once. That makes me laugh cause remember those pics of her and the baby and the treehouse and I joked that you should make her a big sister. Jokes on me huh, cause you sure as heck are. So happy for you friend!!! Can't wait to see you move along...

Oh twins I have a special spot in my heart for twins, maybe it's cause I am one! THis is the most happy news I have heard all day, how cute are those two little babies. This is funny because I actually noticed a few days ago a cute pin you had done with two little twins all curled up next to each other. I repinned it cause it was so sweet but now I know why you pinned it in the first place!
Congratulations you two this is happy news indeed I think I might go to bed smiling now!
