Benton and I were so excited to finally be on land. We sailed on the ocean from Sunday afternoon until Wednesday morning. I couldn't wait to not feel the rocking of the ship. Benton also gets motion sickness, so he struggled those days we were on sea.
Our first stop was to Jamaica. Honestly, I never cared to go to Jamaica. It's just one of those destinations that aren't on my list to see. But we both agreed our the best excursion we did was in Jamaica. I'm so glad we were able to see the beautiful country and experience Jamaica.
We began by taking a tour with Jamaican Phil. We had to drive 1.5 hours to go to our excursion. Benton wasn't very happy about that, long drives aren't good for motion sickness. I quite enjoyed the drive, it was a nice way to see the country and how they lived.
Benton and I ready to go on our shuttle.
The sites in Jamaica...
We hiked Dunns River Falls. There were 23 of us. Tony and Linda thankfully offered to watch Cambree, so we could enjoy the day. Honestly it wouldn't have been fun with Cambree so I was so grateful they watched her for us.
We began the hike at the bottom of the waterfall which leads to the ocean. Once we saw the ocean I was ready to just sit there all day. It was so beautiful.
This is at the bottom of the waterfall, which we were about ready to hike up.
Benton and I ready!
The family photo...
We finished!
Afterwards Phil took us to Scotchies for some real Jamaican food.
We all stood in line and then went to order, but no problem...Phil did it for us. Yep, all of us were kinda surprised. I asked him a question and he assured me I'd like it. I asked what I was getting for a side, he said Festival. Hmm...not sure what that is Phil? The restaurant was outside which was really neat. They cooked our food over logs and sheets of metal. I was a little nervous about what we were getting ourselves into.
Once we got over our nerves and tried the food, it was AMAZING. We had Jerk chicken and Jerk pork, and Festival which was almost like a scone.
We had a wonderful time in Jamaica. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to see how pretty it was.
