We drove to Springfield our state capital to look at the sites. First stop Lincoln's tomb. Confession, I LOVE looking at different historical sites, but I don't care too much about reading and researching them. I am horrible at remembering dates and specific things about history but if I can see them in person, I jump at the chance. Maybe, I understand and remember things better visually? Anyways, I was really excited to go to Lincoln's Tomb, I went when I was younger but didn't remember it and it was nice for Benton to see it as well. Here is the outside of the building, they have a front entrance where visitors enter and a back entrance which your not allowed to enter...
Supposedly if you rub Lincoln's nose it gives you good luck, as you can tell he's given good luck to many visitors...
Us outside Lincoln's Tomb...
President Lincoln is buried here in this tomb, there is a memorial site in Washington as well but his body is here in a cement vault 10 feet below the surface of the burial room...
Family photo...
Afterward we went to lunch at Charlie Parker's Diner, it looked like a whole in the wall, but the food was pretty good...
Lastly, we drove by our states capital building...
Once home we rented a movie and relaxed, weekends are the best!

Looks like a lot of fun, and very interesting! I'm like you though - I can't keep a historical date in my brain to save my life! Definitely seeing things like that in person would be more impacting for me! I love that you live near such historical things :) Miss and love you friend!
Wow...what a cool place. Crazy about rubbing his nose, funny how different the color looks on that part.
Weekends are the best, you guys are so good at planning fun little outing together. We often just sit around alot.
You guys are sooooo historical! (Is that a word?!) I think about all the places around Utah that I've never thought to visit and should. Maybe when the boys get a little older and less out of control? Oh, who am I kidding?!?
