We did it, we bought a cabin in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming. We've been making trips looking at land with or without cabins and we finally found one that was perfect for us. It's only a 3.5 hour drive away from Heber. We wanted a cabin where it was close enough to drive for the weekend. Star Valley is a cute little town and I can't wait to start making memories as a family up there and I guess we already have!
It is a small log cabin with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It's very cozy feeling and I love being tucked away in the trees. It's also only .5 mile away from Prater Canyon, so we can go on hikes really easily. The kids and I went on a 3 mile hike last time we were up there which was very beautiful.
The kids love it and so do we. I know where we will be going anytime we can!

He's a bit obsessed
Lincoln is CRAZY about trains! Thankfully we had bought this train set a few years back and it's getting some good use since he loves trains so much!
Sure love this little man who keeps me company while the girls are at school!

Gardner Village
Our yearly trip to Gardner Village to see the witches was another success! The kids love finding them and playing with one another and their grandparents. I love the holidays and the activities involved!

Big boy bed
So since we were gone for two weeks in a row, putting Lincoln into his own crib was a disaster. He decided he no longer wanted to sleep in his crib. He had been use to sleeping with us in California and then he became bed partners with Nanny while we were in NYC. I tried sticking him in his crib and he would just climb right out. So I decided might as well convert his crib, otherwise he'll just keep jumping out. He's doing better, it took some getting use to but he sure does look cute in his big bed!

New York
We only had one day in between California and New York. It was a bit hectic trying to unpack and repack. Benton had the opportunity to go to a conference in NYC and since I had never been to New York we decided to pay for me to go. Thankfully Benton's mom came up to watch all three of our kids. I don't know what we would have done if she had said no.
We arrived late on Sunday night, so we basically ate dinner and went to bed. Traveling is tiring! But Monday morning we got ready for the day and headed out! There is so much to see. SO many people, buildings, noises and smells going on all at the same time.
I had signed us up for a food tour in Greenwich Village. We got to taste 8 different things from 8 different restaurants. It was such a fun way to taste NYC style food!
Afterwards we enjoyed looking at St. Patricks Cathedral and enjoyed the beautiful architecture New York has to offer.
I didn't bring my camera with me every day since it was too heavy to carry around. I walked a minimum of 24,000 steps a day, lots and lots of walking. Even though I didn't have my camera 100% of the time I did have my cell phone so some of the pics are from that. They are not the best quality but it is way easier than lugging around my big old camera.
So my Great Aunt, Mignon lives in NYC and has most of her life. I've always wanted to see her apartment and I was lucky enough to stop by and visit her two days in a row. It was a wonderful time spent catching up. She has had an amazing life and it's fun to see where she has lived all these years. She's 92 years young and is currently enrolled in a calculus class to keep her sharp. I hope I'm just the same way in the future!
Central Park was beautiful. Probably my favorite thing there. It's so large and there is so much ground to cover.
One of the days I went to the Met while Benton was at his conference. It is HUGE and there is so much to look out. It's an amazing museum.
One of the nights we went and attended a couple of rooftop parties that Benton got invited to. It was a neat way to see the city at night.
My cousin lives in Connecticut and she was nice enough to take the train in and spend an entire day with me sightseeing NYC. We covered a lot of ground. We rode the train and figured our way through the city. We started off at the Highline Walk. It was an old train track that the city converted into a walkway above the city. Such a good use of space!
Ate a HUGE sandwich from Pisillo Italian Panini an all time classic Italian sandwich.
Visited the 911 memorial.
And ended our day in Central Park with my favorite dark chocolate cookie with peanut butter chips from Levain Bakery!
After traveling for 2 weeks in a row I was glad to be coming home and staying put for a while. New York is a little too busy for me. I love my home here in Utah. I told Benton he has converted a once city girl to a country girl. It was fun to see but I'm glad we live where we do.
