Pediatric Gastroenterologist Appointment

On January 30th we went to a Pediatric Gasteroenterologist at Primary Childrens for Addie. We've had concerns about her weight since her 12 month check up because she started falling off her own curve. She isn't on the charts for her age, in fact the doctor said she's the size of a 9 month old. That's pretty small for a 17 month old.

He said for her age she should be consuming 750 calories per day. To get her to gain weight she needs to consume 1000 calories a day. His plan, since she doesn't eat food very well (she can but doesn't) is to feed her 3-4 PediaSure's a day. Since that's quite costly, they are about $2 a drink, he suggested using Carnation Instant breakfast and mix it with whole milk. Addie loves to drink and so far it's worked well. She weighed 16.8 pounds and as long as she's gaining weight in the next 6 weeks then we shouldn't worry.

Here's to hoping she gains some weight. We love our little peanut.

She is seriously the cutest little thing ever! I can't believe how grown up she is getting and I hope that the extra calories are working. Im sure that is such a stress for you. It's a good thing she loves milk!
