Help Me!!!!

Does anyone know what causes side aches when you run??? I have been running for the past 2 years and I run about 4 miles a day. It doesn't happen every time and it's driving me crazy.
Here are my theories;
1. Eat too close to the time you run
2. Not drinking enough water
3. Breathing incorrectly while running
4. The time that I run
The thing of the matter is that I don't eat anything 3 hours before I run, I drink water like a camel (I am always drinking and I only drink water), I pay really close attention to how I breath (I breath through my nose, out through my mouth-the whole time), and I change up the hours that I run-sometimes it's in the morning and most of the time it's at night. So what is going on here? Any other theories?

I don't run so I have zero advice for you my only guess would be the breathing thing. Be careful with that.

It sounds like you are doing it all right. Maybe you drink too much water? Water tends to stick with me for a while if I drink a lot of it. Good job on keeping up with the running! That is awesome!

I love this game!! And I know what it is...it's the coffee. What's the one thing that has changed about your diet? The caffeine in your now regular morning coffee is giving you side pains when you run. It's been since seminar hasn't it...if that's not it I need more information. Hope it goes away. We have missed you around the office this week.

I think you need more electrolites (spelling) I agree with "Nick" and I think you're getting to much water and you body needs something else. Try a gatorade.
You're inspiring.

So, Taylor thinks it could have something to do with your posture. He says try and pay attention to where your shoulders are. Try and keep them back, and don't slouch. But thats just a guess! I get them bad too, maybe its genetic :)

Okay so I'm definately not and expert on running.. I'm not even an amateur at running. But I thought I heard you get them from not enough water? Thats my two cents... Wish I could be more help. PS 4 miles a day? Your my hero Mel!

Your crazy:) Anyhow I only used to get them when I would talk while I ran so maybe it is the breathing thing??? It is your body saying what the heck are you doing to me. It helps if you either raise your arm or drop you arm on the side that hurts. Don't let anyone see you do it because I am sure it looks ridiculous. Keep going because I have an idea for all of us. I'll tell you about it while Kattie is wiping the drool off your face next week.
