A couple weeks ago Benton interviewed for a Student IT job on base. There were 30 people who interviewed for the job. Benton decided to put in for it before telling me. I was freaking out because we'd take a large pay cut. But after I settled down and really thought about it, I decided it would be a great opportunity for him. He's going to school for a degree in IS&T so it would be a wonderful experience for him. Also, it's what he wants to do, so if we are poor for a year, it wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen. He waited all last week to hear if he got the position and of course on Friday they called him to tell him it was his if he wanted it. Benton has applied for 6 jobs on base and has gotten every single one of them. He is really smart and can interview really well. I'm so proud of him for taking a risk and doing something he really will enjoy. So on Friday night we went out and celebrated. We went down to the Gateway and ate dinner at the Skybox and walked around. I'm so proud of him and for all that he does for us. Love you Benton!!!

Congratulations! I think it is a wonderful to take a job that really means something to you and not focus so much on the pay. Though that is definitely easier to say when you are not the one taking a job that pays less than what you are used to. But you will be blessed and HAPPY which is more important. I hope everything works out well and congrats again!
That is great I also am one that thinks who cares the pay as long as he enjoys what he does. Souli as you know is a teacher but definetly doesn't do it for the pay. He will do great. You will find that sometimes doing without brings you closer together I know it does me.
Melissa,
I'm so proud of YOU & Benton!! I think this is a wonderful post to praise his accomplishments. You're such a supportive wife, you guys will do great!
Congrats Benton...what a great opportunity...I have to agree with Melissa that you are very smart and will be successful no matter what you do. Successful not becuase you make a lot of money but successful because you know who you are and where you are going!!! Better yet now we can tease you cause you will have to wear $30.00 jeans like the rest of us. JK! Good luck on your new job and thanks Melissa for sharing!
Dang It! I was just getting ready to ask you both for a loan. Just kidding. Benton that is so awesome. I am so excited you got into that. Melissa was saying that there are not too many postions that open in that field on base. What an opportunity. You will do so great as you do in everything. Love you both!
Congrats to him that is great. I always hate taking a pay cut too, that is how I felt when I went less hours. Things have a way of working out though, and I think in the long run you will be so glad that he did this.
That is so awesome. I just knew he would get the job!
Awesome Benton! Your next steps are:
1) start a business w/ your bro in law
2) start a utah jazz blog w/ your bro in law
Deal?
