On April 29th, we checked into Ogden Regional Hospital at 6am. They took me into my room, got me dressed in my gown and started an IV. Since I previously had a c-section with the twins, they only started pitocin at a 1 since they have to be careful how much they use with a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian). Thankfully I was already having contractions on my own, so they didn't have to use much pitocin to get me going.
My doctor arrived at 8:30am to break my water. Can I just say "OUCH!" When she broke my water with Cambree, it didn't hurt much. But with him, it killed...I pretty much almost broke Benton's hand. She had to try multiple times and move me into multiple positions for it to break. I doubt my water would have ever broken on it's own since it was ridiculously hard for her to break it. She checked me and I was dilated to a 4+.
Since I was dilated already to a 4 and had steady contractions we decided to go ahead and get the epidural. My nurse thought that I would progress pretty quickly and she didn't want it to be too late and not be able to get the epidural like I wanted. So at 9:15 the anesthesiologist came in and I got my epidural. My right side of my body felt a lot more numb than my left side, even though my left side was numb. I started feeling sick, so they gave me an oxygen mask and anti-naseau medication.
At 12:15pm I was dilated to a 6.
12:55 I was dilated to an 8.
1:45 our doctor was on her way.
I pushed for a good 30 minutes. It was extremely hard even with an epidural. I was sweating like crazy, which I never had happen before. With Cambree I pushed for a while without much pain and she came out. Not for Lincoln, his head struggled passing through and boy did it hurt.
At 2:23pm Lincoln James Carnahan was born! I still couldn't believe we actually had a boy!
He weighed 9 pounds 5 ounces, 21 inches long and his head circumference was 38 inches. Everyone in the room couldn't believe how big he was. They said a normal head circumference is around 34cm, a big head was 36cm and at 39cm they have to do a c-section because the head is too large to fit out vaginally. So at 38cm he hardly could fit through and that's why it was so hard for me to push him out. I was just relieved I was able to do a vbac and not have to get him out through c-section.
We had Linda bring the girls by at 5:30pm that night. They were so excited to see him. Cambree could hardly contain herself. She "awed" at everything, and thought everything was "adorable". When Cambree held him she kept breathing deep because she said he was heavy, but she wouldn't let go. Addie on the other hand didn't say much, but she asked for a turn to hold him and sat silently smiling at him. They were too cute when they met him.
We had mostly family that stopped by in the next few days to see us at the hospital.
On Friday morning we were able to leave the hospital and go home.
If you can only imagine how many more pictures I've taken...it's A LOT! I will do another post soon about our first week as a family all together...it's been a bit chaotic. But we are so happy Lincoln is healthy and is apart of our family. We sure do love him so very much!

40 Weeks & still pregnant!
Yes, I am 40 weeks along and he's still in my belly. I would have sworn he was going to arrive early. Obviously my intuition that he would come early was wrong.
Last week at my doctors appointment I had lost 3 pounds, I was dilated almost to a 3, and was 60-70% effaced. My doctor said that if he doesn't come by April 29th that she would induce labor. Now I don't think he will be early but rather, he will be late. For the past couple weeks, I've had steady contractions lasting 2-3 hours multiple times a week. It's a bit frustrating because I think I'm going to go into labor and then the contractions just disappear. I've never had false labor like this before, so I'm hoping when I do go into labor, I will progress quicker than I did with Cambree.
We are counting down the days till we get to meet our new family member! I'm sure my next post will be his arrival! Wish me luck!

Addie's new love
My girls have always been more into "boyish toys" than girl toys. Sure they are girly and like to dress up, wear make-up, and play with dolls but they love bugs, dinosaurs, fishing, getting dirty and now Addie's new obsession, tractors.
She's seriously obsessed. Any time she sees one she yells "TRACTOR!"
The other day I took Addie to Home Goods while Cambree was at preschool. I let Addie look at the toys and of course, she was drawn to the tractors. I ended up letting her pick out her very own tractor and I'm so glad I did. She was smiling from ear to ear and laughed the whole way home. She's been taking her tractor with us when we leave our house, she loves it so very much. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made, I just love how happy she is.
I love how well rounded my girls are and that they play with everything. Also, it will be nice to have boy toys when our little guy arrives as well!

Snow in the Spring
We had a snow storm which feels odd in April. But I shouldn't be surprised because that's how Utah rolls.
My girls thought it was fantastic. They spent over an hour playing in the snow. I wasn't in the mood to get all dressed up as well to go play with them and thankfully they were fine playing with one another. I loved hearing their little laughs through the door.
It's suppose to be in the mid 60's this weekend, so it will melt soon. But it was fun while it lasted.

37 Weeks
I am 37 weeks and 2 days pregnant. At our appointment tonight our doctor said he weighed approximately 7 lbs 9 ounces. I am dilated to a 1+ and I am 50% effaced.
Not exactly what I was hoping for but at least I am progressing somewhat! I will let you all know what our doctor says next week!

Happy Easter!
The girls woke up a little before 7am and were ready to find their Easter baskets.
Cambree started inspecting each room and found her basket in the laundry room in the dryer. I was surprised how easily she found it!
Addie on the other hand, had no idea what was going on. So she needed help from the rest of us to show her where hers was. She was so excited to find candy in her basket, before I could do anything she had the wrapper off her caramel egg and was eating it. I think she was surprised to find carmel in the middle of the egg. She doesn't like her hands dirty, so she immediately gave it to me and had me clean her off.
Later in the day, we went to my parents house for dinner. We had a wonderful day together, hanging out outside and resting.
Hope you all had a great Easter!

Just because
Nothing new here, but I just love these pictures of the girls playing in our yard the other day.
Here's Addie saying "CHEESE!" Love when she smiles like this!

Little Boys room!
Our little mans room is all done & I couldn't be happier! It was extremely hard for me to decide what to do. I kept switching themes and colors but finally it all came together.
We decided on a fishing themed room since Benton loves to fly fish. There aren't many fish decorations for sale or the ones I could find, weren't quite what I was looking for. So the fish decoration above his dresser I made. And we stole pictures from a book and framed them above his crib. I am so pleased with how it all looks together.
Now all we need is for him to arrive!

Easter Egg Hunt!
This past weekend we went on our yearly Easter egg hunt with our neighborhood. Cambree loved running from house to house finding candy and eggs in everyone's yard. Addie on the other hand sat in her stroller, ate the candy and watched Cambree do all the hard labor for both of them. I'm thinking Addie was the smart one, I was jealous of her stroller and wanted to switch her places as well!
They sure looked cute all dressed up!
