Hodge's Visit

My older sister, Karly and her family came to town from July 5-12th. They drove all the way here from Arkansas. We kept them busy the whole time, loving the time we were able to spend with them. They've lived out of Utah for about 12 years now and sadly I don't think they will ever move back. But thankfully I was able to see them a month ago and then this whole week. Here's a rundown of our crazy, fun week together!

We stayed a couple nights at my uncles cabin up in Smith & Morehouse, it was absolutely beautiful. It was nice for us to all stay together in one place.

While at the cabin, we explored, went fishing, the guys mountain biked, ran, had water fights, campfires and just enjoyed each others company. Seriously fun.

Benton and I woke up at 5:30am to go fishing one morning, just the two of us. It was beautiful to get to the lake and see the sun rise over the mountains. I attempted to fish but obviously got distracted by the beauty of where we were. I kept whipping out my camera instead of doing what we woke up to do.

We were also able to all go on a hike. However within about 10 minutes both of our girls started crying, so we turned back and let them play in the shallow part of the river.

Us girls obviously had to do girls night since we were all together. We started off by shopping at Nordstrom's Early Access Yearly sale. We ended up being in the one store for 2.5 hours, so crazy but the time flew by. Afterwards we ate dinner at the Dodo Bird Restaurant. Their turkey sandwich dipped in BBQ sauce is my all time favorite. I use to go to this restaurant with my grandma when she was alive, (my moms mother) so it seemed fitting we all went together. The night couldn't have been better!

One afternoon the kids did a lemonade stand and did EXCELLENT! They made $24 total, split between four of them, Cambree came away with $6 which she was excited to put in her bank (smart girl).

On their last night, my parents volunteered to watch all six grandchildren. Us three couples have never gone out together, so it was nice being able to go to dinner without distractions. The grandkids had fun, but I think my parents were happy to see us come back.

All in all it was a busy, fun filled week. Hopefully they'll dare to make the trip next year! Love you Hodge family!

4th of July

Benton and I LOVE the Kaysville parade. We invited both my parents as well as Aimee and her family to join us and luckily they were both able to come! The parade was great. But it was rather hot, too hot in fact that both my parents and Aimee's family left early. But it was fun while we were all together.

That night Benton woke Cambree up at 9:30pm and drove her in his truck to see the fireworks, just them. I stayed home with Addie, she's just too little still to stay out so late. Next year we can all go! Happy fourth of July everyone, hope yours was as great as ours was!

My wild child

This little one has been having a rough time sleeping lately.  This past week she's really struggled taking naps as well as sleeping through the night and going to bed at her usual bedtime (7:30-8pm).  I think she might have molars coming through, that's the only thing I can think of that could be wrong with her.

The picture below is of her last night at 10:30pm, wide awake as you can see.  She cries until you pick her up and then she's ready to play.  Maybe she's messing with us...

I love these two pictures below.  Most mornings while Cambree is eating breakfast, Addie runs into her room.  She plays with her toys, jumps on her bed and escapes before Cambree even has a clue.  I love it.

Hopefully bedtime gets better soon....I'm exhausted.

Party at the Zoo

For our nephew, Ethan's fifth birthday we all met at the zoo to celebrate with him.

It had been years since Benton had been to the zoo, possibly a decade. It was time for him to join us.  We've been to other zoo's with our children but weirdly enough not the Utah Hogle Zoo.

As always we had a great time with family and we were happy to celebrate our cutie Ethan.
