Over Christmas break, one of my best friends came back in town, I was so excited to see her! Her daughter Ellie turned 1 so we went to her birthday party. It was fun to talk to Megan and her family, we still talk on the phone, but it's nice to see her in person.

On Saturday Megan invited me to tag along with her mom Cindy, her sister Marlece, her mother-in-law Kerrie and her sister-in-law Tana to do a little shopping in Park City. I love good sales, which they had! Megs family is so much fun, I'm glad I could go hang out with the girls!

Grandpa Don
Benton's grandpa Don passed away on December 23rd. He was 91 years old, and would have been 92 in February. He & his wife Deri have been married for 62 years, what an inspiration to the rest of us. I know how much Benton loved and looked up to his grandpa. He spent tons of time growing up over at their house, mowing their lawn and hanging out. His grandpa also was the one to get Benton golfing, he taught him how at Davis golf course, and his gramps even golfed into his 80's. I was always so amazed at how sharp he was, he could tell you a story from his life, the date and small details, his memory was beyond my comprehension, I would leave in awe every time at how smart he was. He will be greatly missed and hope Benton's grandma knows how much we love her and know we are with her during this time.

Merry Christmas! I hope you all had as good as a Christmas as we did. I loved spending the holidays with his family, they are so much fun!

Fun Weekend
Last weekend, Benton's sister Kattie, her hubby Jay and their 2 boys slept over. We had a ton of fun, talking till 2am and hanging out. We live about an hour away from each other, so it's fun to spend more time with them.
Benton playing with baby Cache...
Kattie shoveled our driveway, she just made me laugh. Her and her husband fight over who gets to shovel the snow from their driveway, so when I said I hated doing it, she jumped at the chance to do mine and I wasn't about ready to stop her.
Here is their little boy Cowen, Benton is crazy about this little guy. Everyone loves to watch him, he's just a fun little boy and just makes you laugh. He thought Roxy's bed was a hat...close enough I guess...
On Saturday night we all went out to dinner and watched the Jazz game at Iggy's. This was Breanne's (Benton & Kattie's niece) idea, and I'm glad we all went! Here is Breanne and her boyfriend Chad...
And Me and Kattie...
I love spending time with Benton's family, it was a great weekend! We need to do stuff like this more often!

Happy Birthday Benton!
Benton turned 27 today! I just want to let Benton know how much I truly love him and adore him. We get along so well, of course we have our tiffs but luckily they are very far and few in between. I told him last night how grateful I was to have him as my hubby. I don't tell him as often as I should.
While Benton is 27 he's going to graduate at Weber State University with a Bachelors Degree in IS&T (Information Systems and Technology), that's computers if you weren't aware, I wasn't when he told me that was what he wanted to do and changed his degree 2 years ago. I'm so proud of all of his hard work, he studies so much and really tries to get good grades. I know I would have given up, as most of you know Benton is such a hard worker. He works full time at HAFB, where he already has a job in his degree, goes to school full time and works a part time job at the Apple Store on Base. So you can tell how extremely busy this guy is and he's doing it all for us. He isn't one of those guys who just sits there, he does as much as he can to provide. We actually don't need the income from his Apple job, I've told him to quit many times, but he doesn't know what he'd do with all his free time- I think he's crazy. I work 40 hours a week and still feel like I need more free time.
I know Benton will be such a great dad, he worries so much about this baby already. I'm thinking he's going to be even more protective of the baby than I will be. He is thrilled that we're to the point in our lives where we can add onto our family, and so am I. We will have been married for 6 years before we have this baby and I'm so glad we've had that one on one time to be together.
I love you Benton and hope you have a great birthday!

Doctor Visit
Our baby had it's legs crossed, so we couldn't tell what it was. Our doctor said hopefully the baby will cooperate next month so she can tell us what we're having. In the meantime, we still would like your votes!

Boy or Girl?
This Wednesday we go to our 14th week appointment, where we could possibly find out the gender of our baby! Our doctor said she might not be able to tell, so we might have to wait till next month, but I want your guesses! Please leave a comment letting us know what you think it is, a boy or a girl!

Girls Trip!!!
Over Friday night, Benton's sisters and I planned a girls trip up at Zermatt Resort in Midway, where we all brought 1 friend with us. I of course brought my sister Chelsie. We got up at the Resort around 6pm, and started with eating...we had so much food it was crazy! We've all been dying to see New Moon, and since us sisters went last year together to see Twilight, we all had to go see New Moon together too. The movie I thought was better than Twilight (how couldn't it be?), but we had these annoying teenage boys sitting behind us, I seriously was about to yell at them because I couldn't hear the movie, but it all worked out anyway. After the movie we went back and stayed up till 2:30am, which I can't remember the last time I did that, especially with being pregnant, I mean I fell asleep at 7:30pm the other night, but it was so much fun spending time with the other 7 girls, just talking, sharing stories and laughing with each other! I'm so glad we all were able to spend the weekend just us girls, so much fun!

Thanksgiving 2009
We all attended my grandma's funeral service on Wednesday. It was hard seeing her at the funeral, but I know she's better off where she's at. The service was heart felt, of course I caught myself crying at times and laughing, I'm so blessed she was in my life, sad she couldn't meet my baby here on earth, but maybe she's talking with it right now. We drove down to St. George after the funeral, it really was a long day. It was nice being with my family over this Thanksgiving weekend, we did a lot of fun stuff and am so glad we could all be together, especially after my grandma's passing. Here are some photos from our trip...

Pregnancy...
I am 12 weeks pregnant, and am so glad to let you all finally know! It's been so hard to keep it a secret! Benton and I found out on October 2nd, I took 2 pregnancy tests and still didn't believe it. I went to my first docotor appointment on October 15th and really couldn't believe that it was true, even though I saw the heart beat. We went back at 10 weeks and were able to hear it's heart beat, how amazing!
Here's the babe at 10 Weeks...
I told Benton's dad and step mom, Marie on Halloween, they were really surprised and happy for us. The next day we told Benton's mom, and sisters that we were pregnant, this is how we did it...I asked all of the girls to get a quick photo, once we were all smiling at the camera (Benton was taking the picture) he said 1, 2, 3...Melissa's pregnant! It was fun to catch their reactions on camera...here are some photos from that night...
I told my work at a staff meeting at lunch. I think most of them were shocked, 2 of the girls already knew (they caught on) and was so relieved once they all knew, it was hard to not tell them for 11 weeks...
Benton and I decided to do the photo thing today with my family, I've struggled not telling them, it's been so incredibly hard! We had my grandma's funeral yesterday and waited til this morning to tell them the news....here are their reactions, they were a little slow at understanding what Benton actually said, they just didn't believe it....

Benton and I are ecstatic about being pregnant and finally telling you all the happy news! We'll update you on milestones as we go!

My sweet Grammy
My dearest Grandma Helen Bennion died tonight. She was 80 years old and the best grandma I could ever ask for. A little over a week ago she went out to lunch with her assisted living home, and fell at the restaurant. She ended up hurting her hip and pelvic bone. Chelsie and I visited her at the hospital the day after it happened, she was pretty drugged up, but was still talking and joking with us. She started going down hill once she left the hospital, so this past weekend I visited her twice. She no longer was speaking, eating or drinking, she barley would open up her eyes. I'm so glad Benton and I were able to go sit with her this morning even though she was not aware, I'd like to believe that she knew we were there for her. She was moved from Hillside today to my Uncle and Aunts house, I'm so glad that she was with family and at their house when she left this world.
My grams will be missed so much, I loved her with all my heart. I'd like to share some great memories about my grammy. She was the fanciest woman I've ever met....always dressed up like she could be attending a ball. She had such great fashion sense, I always said I'd probably end up dressing just like her when I got older. She complimented me every time I saw her, always commenting how beautiful I was, but I always attributed it to her, I'd always say, "That's because your my grandma, no wonder where I get my looks from, obviously you." She had a great sense of humor and always was happy. She also was so friendly, people would light up when they'd talk to her, her attitude was contagious, you just couldn't be down when you were with her.
Here are some photos that are my favorites...this one is me interviewing my grammy while I was in High School, I was writing a paper about her...
Our wedding day...
Christmas 2008...
This picture was this year, my grammy, me and my mom(her mother)....
It's hard knowing she's gone, but I am so grateful I was able to know her and spend so many days with her throughout the years, every minute was precious and I'll really miss her.
